The Easter Bunny

Its Easter, family time, you have bought your children and loved ones Easter eggs and other chocolate goodies but you want to treat your children, yourself or even a relative to an extra special treat. A little fluffy bundle of joy. You decide to get a rabbit, after all they are an easy pet to care for, cheap and cuddly right?

Wrong! Rabbits are not easy to care for they require a lot of time, attention and hard work. They are not the perfect pet for children as commonly thought. They require Vaccinations, health check ups, bountiful hay, large space, neutering/spaying and much more...

I have volunteered in several rescues across the country and year after year I have seen the same thing, case after case of rabbits being left at the rescues due to the owners losing interest, the children losing interest, neglect etc.. Many of these bunnies were bought as cute fluffy Easter presents...

I am a huge supporter of the Make Mine Chocolate Campaign. Their aim is to "Spread awareness of rabbit welfare" and "To stop the impulse aquisition of rabbits"

This means they try to educate people on rabbit welfare, rabbit care and spread awareness and support for rescues. They try to discourage the buying of rabbits without the understanding of the costs and work involved and educating adults on issues such as how rabbits are not the perfect pet for children that its assumed they are.

They also campaign to encourage retailers to refrain from selling rabbits over the Easter period. If you want to help this campaign you can download support posters, donate or buy items on their site which fuels money back into their campaign aiding rabbit welfare.

I have added a Link to their website bellow their logo. Thank you and have a very happy Easter!
